Is it just that the weather is terrible that the signal is being interrupted. sometimes, all i have is like 100 - 200 kbs.

also what do the different colours LED's on the Dongle mean?

It's slow because the service in some areas is either over subscribed or not up to the job.

Ring them, complain, withold payment - ever time it is not doing what you pay for. It's the only way to make them listen.

It's slow because it isn't broadband, is heavily dependent on location, and the number of other users will also degrade your experience.

Just to answer the last part of your post:

Indicates the status of the E180.
    • Green, blinking twice every 3s: The E180 is powered on.
    • Green, blinking once every 3s: The E180 is registered to the
    GSM/GPRS/EDGE network.
    • Blue, blinking once every 3s: The E180 is registered to the
    WCDMA/HSDPA/HSUPA network.
    • Green, always on: The GPRS/EDGE connection is set up.
    • Blue, always on: The WCDMA connection is set up.
    • Cyan, always on: The HSDPA/HSUPA connection is set up.
    • Off: The E180 is removed from the PC.

I'd agree with meteor.. it's terribly slow.. I would advise anybody reading in the Athenry, Craughwell, Loughrea, Oranmore area to stay well clear of it...

    Sorry for the bump

I've had meteor broadband for about 4 months now and it's been great up until now. There was a week or 2 were it would slow down but never this bad.

I have the cyan led showing, as always, but the actual speed of it is painful. Sometimes it would even disconnect (now ) or turn green.

What exactly is making it so slow? The weather? If not, is there any way to fix it?

See post #3. This is how the technology works, and there's nothing you can do. More users = poorer performance for all the users.

You're probably looking at having to wait until they increase the capacity on your site before it'll improve again. They'd know that before anyone else though.

Got the meteor broadband to go today to tide me over while I get eircon/magnet broadband sorted as I just moved house. Pleasantly surprised. Constant speeds of 3Mbs or higher. Granted the 7.5gb cap per month is feckin useless. Fine for general surfing, useless for downloading anything worthwhile or watching streaming video and such. It'll work fine but you'll reach your usage limit in no time. As a quick fix its fine. I'm in the rochestown area of Cork for an idea of coverage.

meteors 3G signal is dismal if you dont live in the north east/east or a major city or town then the most likely ting is you will be on dial up speeds on EDGE OR GPRS signals which to be honest is useless if only they had more signal around not alot of speed tests / feedback about metoer on boards would like to see alot more :rolleyes:
