This show has gone down the toilet. I mean come on resorting to a lesbian storyline for ratings is cheap. But even cheaper is the cinematography, why cant the camera man hold the thing level, why always angles. Its so distracting and amaturish.

    Bring back Brian Fuller.

Woah!....Sylar having sex with Parkman's wife??

Oh yeah, shocking.... It's clearly another one of Sylar's mindf***s with Parkman's head again - how original...

^ aye....but it's obvious the mindf*ck comes from Janice digging Sylar better in bed then Parkman :-)

Crap promo, especially compared to the one for Tabula Rasa.

I've seen people use these words before and I haven't agreed. But this was it. Best episode since season one. Class in every way (except the lack of Peter Petrelli).

Sylar was HILARIOUS and the outcome of him taking over Parkman's body was great.

HRG and Tracy's story with the kid was GREAT. A lot of heart, a lot of drama.

Even Claire's story was great this week. At first I thought it was gonna be lame teen scary movie type crap but it was actually really tense in parts. Parts of the scenery reminded me of the Saw movies, which added a nice sense of creepiness.

They've really rekindled that amazing sense of drama that's been missing for so long.

Samuel leveling the police station at the end was also great btw.

Looks like we're gonna be seeing Mohinder sometime soon too.

One thing that I'm really liking so far this season and really echoes season one very positively: The characters aren't constantly bumping into one another this time around. In season one, the characters were all on their own paths and, often, those paths would briefly cross (lending credence to the whole "we're all connected" theory etc). By volume 4, the characters were all huddled into a little group in the centre of the screen, clumsily bumping into each other, getting overly involved in each others' arcs. Now, in volume 5, they're once again doing their own stuff, having their own challenges and problems but still managing to remain loosely connected to the one overall plot.

    For example, let's use Parkman.

Season 1: Parkman is on the hunt for Sylar. He comes into brief contact with HRG (which he then forgets, thanks to the Haitian). He later comes into contact with Peter Petrelli when he questions him about the Homecoming incident. Brief run-in with Nikki also occurs. As the season progresses, he meets Ted who takes him to seek revenge on HRG and while at the Bennet house, he meets Claire. Five Years Gone, we see him having contact with Hiro and Nathan. He also meets Mohinder. Discounting the more inconsequential meetings, that's 6 characters he becomes connected with over the course of 23 episodes, and most of his interactions with them are fairly brief.

Season 2: Matt lives with Mohinder, is bezzie mates with Nathan and battles Peter in the final scenes. Unless I'm forgetting someone, that's not many interactions but they're pretty big ones and mostly unnecessary.

Season 3 - Volume 3: Matt is guided by Usutu, falls in love with Daphne, still lives with Mohinder (-ish?), has a backstory with Knox (unaired) etc.

Season 3 - Volume 4: Matt has pretty heavy involvement with Daphne, Mohinder, Peter, Ando, Hiro, Nathan, HRG, Danko, Claire....

Season 4 - Volume 5: Matt has yet to physically run into a single other main character this season. Yet, he's undoubtedly linked to Sylar who is linked to 'Nathan' (and thus, the rest of the Petrellis) who is linked to the Circus etc. Parkman is totally removed, yet intrinsically involved in the overall plot, just as he was in season one. He doesn't need to have his buddy-cop moments with anyone this year cos they've given him his own arc to get on with. Very good.

Sorry for the long post actually.... I should really go to bed.

I'm gonna read the rest of the posts after it, but I'm already 15mins into it and I have 5 different tabs open...it's THAT bad.

This may be the last heroes episode I ever watch

*finished: Last 5 minutes were good. Everything else was pure ****e.

Goodbye Heroes. We'll never have another season 1.

Not as good as last week, but still very good. The end scene was the s*it!!...it was the look on Knepner's face.....the anger and conviction of what he did, very good actor.

He's the standout this season besides Sylar. The Claire/Gretchen.....meh!, waste of time. See they are leaving the door open for more hot lesbo scenes i see, meh!

Invisible girl walking in water was good, the blonde "OMG" chick....she needs a punch!, i guess the Hatian will have some work now wiping the girls memory.

Sylar taking over Parkman was great, and Mohinder getting a call?....please let him be in India. Twas a really strong ep.

Again my issue is, still no clue to overall arc or direction....they are taking things really slow. I like character development....but some action would be good!

We need to know pretty soon what the hell is going on, what are the carnies upto?....come on!

Ratings: Heroes seems to have stabilized and the good news for NBC is that Trauma was up a tick versus last week. The bad news is that only got it to a 1.9 adults 18-49 rating.

I thought this week's episode was brilliant. It had a very season 1 feel to it. I never imagined I'd be intrigued by a storyline involving Parkman. The stuff with Jeremy was very nice and I liked how Jeremy didn't save the man he touched which I imagine would have happened in season 2 or 3. I'm interested to see what happens with Claire and the girl (ahem) and this Samuel chap seems like a great villain.

    Top stuff.

Fair enough, although the fact that Hiro went back in time to before Charlie died in the last episode was the slightest of hints anyway...

Yeah but there was no need to tell us about the evil space robots from hell getting killed by godzilla.
that's just to confuse the hell out of people who don't read spoilers

Seems like the carnies are trying to recruit everyone with powers until they have enough that they can show themselves to the world without being hunted etc and possibly take over the world.... X-Men style... Dunno, hmm...

It still seems to be going nowhere and it is almost half-way through its' season now... I do prefer the format they are sticking with this year though (2-3 stories per episode, rather than 2 minutes each spent on every single character all in one episode) but it still seems a bit pointless. Claire's story is still stupid and useless and any time she is on screen, the whole show takes a nosedive.

Mohinder coming back soon too... ugh :(. Though it was funny how Sylar made fun of his accent when talking to Parkman...

Ending was good, Samuel is one of the only interesting characters but far too little of him this time around. Is the compass he gave Tracy, the compass that they went after at the beginning of the season or does he have a lot of them? Is its' only significance then that it points to the carnival?

I liked this episode a lot.Probably my favourite one this season.Sylar and Parkman was brilliant and very funny too.Claire's story was actually very good and I hate her so I was a bit surprised.HRG and the kid was fantastic too.Knepper at the end was just fantastic when burying the station.

    :Maybe Spoiler:

To me,I think the overall arc as Nervous Wreck kinda said that they are trying to fit in with normal people despite their powers.I think it's been kinda hinted at all season with the circus being called home and in this episode with Tracy and the kid.Likewise with Peter and helping people and Matts struggles with Sylar and the police stuff. They all went to live normal lives but can't because of their powers.Thats how I see it anyway.

Decent episode. Its holding my interest anyway. The sruff with Noah, Tracy and Jeremy was good. Really like humans vs mutants in X-Men. Liked Samuel's justice of burying the station. Loved Sylar's line about making 2 Parkman's scream in one day :D

Seriously can Hiro go back in time and replace the script of season 2 with season 4... this season has me interested and liking Heroes again.
Please let this keep it up!

Agree....the interest factor in the arc and character has grabbed me this season, i now look forward to the next ep.

I enjoyed it alot and I like the direction the season is going in which is IMO the exposing of the powers.
This episode hinted at that alot with 2 other girls finding out about claire and that kid killing the protester in full view of everybody

Liked all of it except Mohinder coming back FUUUUUU

I always wonder if Peter is going to get his full power back at some stage (as seemed to happen with Hiro), it's always fun to have a guy with "all the powers", or if he's gonna get that big scar at some stage.

I think in practice it's less fun that it sounds, to be honest.

When he's going at full power, there's rarely going to be a situation or problem that couldn't be solved by just nipping back in time a bit and doing *something* from a safe distance with telekinetic mind bullets to stop it from ever beginning to happen in the first place.. and he'd still get back home in time for tea (which goes without saying really because, eh, he can control time. And he'd probably have the kettle boiling away for himself before he even started to think about wanting a cup.)

They've tried to limit his (and Sylars) powers before, for this very reason I assume, but it just felt forced like everything else in seasons 2 + 3. I think they've managed it well this time and I'd be hopeful that they don't return to full power without good reason.

I agree. The reason Sylar's powers remain and Peter's have been taken away is that most of the really cool/useful powers were given to the main characters. Telepathy, time manipulation, super strength, healing etc. Whereas Peter gained the use of these powers simply by coming into close contact with the other characters, Sylar had to kill them. So, Peter became all-powerful and Sylar had to use his powers well. Peter perhaps became a bit too powerful and, as you've said, there was really no situation that he couldn't easily navigate if he were to use his powers well. Sylar couldn't get most of these cool powers because it would mean killing off the main characters. Thus, although he is super-powerful, he never gained quite as much power as Peter and didn't need to have his powers taken away from him (fully, at least).

I think the only big problems that they really ran into were giving Peter Hiro's ability and giving Claire's ability to both Peter and Sylar. Had they not done that, it all woulda pretty much worked out.

I do hope that Peter gets his full powers back but hopefully Hiro is dead by then or he doesn't come into contact with him. The time-travelling thing just kinda has to stop. But I would love to see Peter having multiple powers again.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,406 ✭✭✭PirateShampoo

I still think Peter has Arthurs power, but hasnt fully used it yet.

Or at least i hope he does.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,115 ✭✭✭✭Nervous Wreck

That could be good. It'd be interesting if he did have Arthur's power but could choose whether or not he stole the power from others or just mimicked. That way, he could eventually defeat Sylar without killing him.

Edit: Though again, that'd render Peter far too powerful.

"How're we gonna defeat this evil villain?!"
    "I'll just steal his powers."
    "Oh...."
    "Yeah.... Coffee?"

It just annoys me that Peter could be such a great character but every session he is a let down.

Its a shame session 2 didnt have this level of writing.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,115 ✭✭✭✭Nervous Wreck

Well I was really impressed with the way Peter was used in volume 4. He really became like a stronger, more confident version of his Vol 1 incarnation. Kinda like a mix between vol. 1 Peter (empathy-wise) and "Five Years Gone" Peter (confidence and competence-wise)...! He's continuing that trend now. I like it. :)
