Fairly soon im going to be buying a kjw m700p gas powered rifle. Im just wondering what range would you use to sight in the scope?.

Now i know what to do as to how to zero it in and do it indoors etc its just bb's are unpredictable at times as you know.

Any help at all would be appreciated.

Roughly about 40 Meters at a guestimate. Set the hopup without the scope on and get it firing as nicely as you can first. when your getting the best range out of it you'll then adjust the scope to match that. :)

Why don't you check out part one of my sniper serial linked in my signature? It's got a guide to setting up a sniper rifle and scope you may find useful. :)

as for 40m... thats fairly close range... 15m isnt worth aiming for never mind zeroing. :D

Yeah its about maximum effective range with an airsoft rifle at 1j, beyond that your really just guessing. :)

For sighting, I imagine three 40 foot containers end to end.
If I can hit accurately at 100 feet, I'm happy.
It's a plastic round ball, a small fraction of a gram in weight, fired from an unrifiled barrel, really a musket in effect, so I'd aim for 100-120 feet.

It may be fired from an unrifled barrel, but you forget the important factor of hopup. This creates stability through angular momentum in the bb's movement. Its not really a musket at all....

Even at one J, its entirely possible to reach 200ft with a bb. That isnt even ambitious. However, 100 is a good distance to zero for.
