Right, a woman I work with is claiming to be doing jury duty next week which is a load of bullsh*t. She's always off sick and is always dying for an excuse to take time off work. Now my boss is a bit slow on the old uptake and pretty clueless so he's just letting her go. But aren't there forms that my boss needs to sign or something to be reimbursed for her wages for the week? She's such a lazy c*nt, I really really want her to get caught out! Any ideas as to how I can help f*ck her over?

You don't just go to jury duty. She will have the summons (is it a summons??) that she got from the court. She should have to provide that.

Why don't you completely show her up by working hard at your job, being nice to your co-workers and to your boss, arrive early and stay late, and stop hanging about on boards at midday.

    That'll show her!

So she will have to bring this into work? Interesting...! She's provided nothing and just informed our boss today. More fool him really but it annoys me because I've to cover her work when she's off sitting on her fat arse in her lonely old apartment desperately trawling through match.com. I will mention the summons to him.

Its a random draw for jury duty - once you've done it you never have to do it again, it would be sweet if she eventually did get summoned to duty, stung proper!

I'm a lowly student and did it back at the beginning of the summer. I was on work placements but didn't need to provide any documentation, just told the guy I was working for and my college. Weren't any problems. However I wasn't in employment, think I remeber the people I was on a jury with saying they had to provide the letter that you're given to their employers... not 100% sure about that though.

Also, if she's not picked on a jury she'll be let go at about 12.00 and if she still wants to be paid has to go back into work. Get her on that one ;)

Aren't you supposed to give your boss a copy of the letter requesting you to appear or something?!? Think he can request a certificate of attendance or something!!

    Might find something here

That's not exactly true, you're exempt for 10 years. Unless it's a tough case like rape/murder that you are put on, Then the judge can give you an exemption for life.

if shes missing alot of days and getting away with it fair play to her, shes cleverer than you! :p

Sorry to say this OP but she is obviously the most attractive person in the workplace. This is why your boss has decided to pole her instead of you.

Get over it and get back to work!.

She's the only single one, that is! If you saw her you'd know why! :p

Who told you you can only ever be called once? Or is it a recent update?

you can be called numerous times, no exemption. If you get on a case you can be exempted for differing times 7 years plus iirc.

If you get on certain types of high profile cases the judge can decide to remove your name from the random draw for longer periods or indefinitly.

If your a doctor/student/have young kids/pregnant etc etc you can get exempted. Or simply wear an "I hate everyone" tshirt:D

Or do what the guy in front of me did. He told the judge that he was addicted to herion and was unfit for duty, so she let him off. Not sure if he was being brutally honest or just a bit of a chancer, either way he had some balls to say that to a judge.

I did jury duty recently, case was a pile of **** and we were led to a verdict.

it can be hard working with people who are always off sick but maybe you could try and be a little more empathetic, maybe she suffers from depression or maybe some other psychological illness which she needs treatment for.

I would just try and do my own job and not wasting time trying to f**k people over as it really looks bad on you and makes you out to be a horrible person.

I got a call for jury duty last year. Gave my boss a copy of the summons. Didn't get called for the case and was back in work after lunch. Why didn't I take the full day:confused: Doh!

Run your own counter-scam. Go here, find the list of Swine Flu symptoms, call your GP, tell him you're feeling sick, using the aforementioned symptoms as "inspiration", and _voila_, you've got a two-week iron-clad medical cert.

If that was the case I'd say fair enough, I have a friend who suffers from depression and he has to take a lot of time off work which is understandable. But when she takes her few days off she's always in the pub or going to the cinema. How do I know this? She's stupid enough to put it on facebook! I guess the person who is most to blame is our boss though for allowing it to happen

I'd hate to work in your office. Half the staff are pulling sickies and the rest seem to spend their days taking hour-long coffee breaks, surfing boards and stalking the sickees on Facebook.

You must work for the Public Sector most unprofitable company ever.

Take some sick days and follow her around with a video-camera, whilst wearing a dirty mac and a false beard. Take the evidence to your boss and tell him that when you were pretending to be sick, she was lying about jury service.

The end result may cure your other colleague's depression.

Sounds like she should be on trial instead of on the jury.
