    Can anybody help me please.....
I have a Jaguar XC-type Sport Estate and the key fob was not working so I assumed the battery was gone. I bought a new Jag battery (britishparts.co.uk) when I was getting a load of other stuff and replaced teh battery but it still doesnt work.
Does it need to be reprogrammed after the battery is replaced? Any help would be appreciated.

Your nearest Ford dealer may be able to do it for you. Give them a ring. Otherwise it's a trip to the Jag dealer who are few and far between.

There might be a way to code the central locking without going to a dealer. I have done it on a nissan primera and vag cars without any problems. It's usually done my holding a button on the fob and a sequence of turns of the ignition.

Do a google search or search on some of the jag forum's you might find something.

New Fords are done by turning the key in the ignition from off to on (not starting engine though) 8-10 times. X-Type key is essentially the same as a Mondeo key if I remember correctly.

Will try today, Havent searched Jag forums yet but will google around and see what the story is. Thanks for suggestions... My previous experience with Jag dealers was expensive so I try to keep away... get all my genuine parts in UK now, less than half the price... quoted 583 plus vat for drive shaft, bought it for 307 from UK along with a load of bushings and a service kit...
