This may have been asked before but someone told me your school can get funding if you have a GAA team. I apologise for being so ignorant. I am not a sporting person, I am merely a parent chairing a parents association & have been asked to investigate this. Unfortunately I dont even know where to start. I would really appreciate an experienced person pointing me in the right direction.

Just simply from my own county, Tipp, I know that the County Board run organised Schools competitions with the grading's based on a combination of previous years results and more importantly the number of teachers in the school and yes as far as I'm aware each school that participates receives funding.
So probably the best start would be to send an email to the secetary of the county baord, some County boards have a youth development officer aswell who would deal with this, your County's website should give you the neccessary contact details.

Don't know if this is of any help. The current youth officer in our club has an excellent relationship with the local school and is always on the lookout to help. You'd see him locking and unlocking the pitch when they use it for training and matches. Any bits of extra equipment are kept nd he delivers them to the school. As far as I know he he keeps in contact with the principal to see if and when they would like coaches to visit the school. Sometimes, the school have to cover other parts of the P.E. programme so don't have the time allocation but generally when they want it he can arrange the county board to send a coach. I think, from listening to the kids the coach usually visit them for about 10 weeks per year but it could be different in other places. I've heard that sometimes local clubs offer to pay for coaches too. Isn't there someone in the school that liases with the GAA and they would probably get the information fairly easily? Has the school had any involvement from the GAA in the past because they might still have a contact?
