hi i know this isn't a personal issue but couldn't find a catogory with this in it
just wondering rang hibernain today without saying that i had cover with them because still on 6 month waiting period on 4th month now .
Just wondering i asked would i be covered for a mri as out patient before the end of 6 mths she said i would and that it would be covered for in patient treatment after the 6 mths all i want to know is this true cos you know the way insurance companys they don't want to pay nothing so would she be like yeah your covered go ahead with 500 euro scan and then she'd go no that was in the 6 mth period so can't claim and now that is a previous condition so you'll never be covered cos you were diagnoised with it in the 6 mth period ya know.
is being diagnoised with a new problem when i'm on the 6 mths period would that be classed as a previous condition once the waiting period was up and would i not be covered in the future or are you actually covered for new conditions once you set up the policy its just you can't claim for them until the 6 mths is up . see i need to know cos i can wait for the scan until after 6 mts but it would be nicer to have it now but i don't want to go ahead and find out i'm niot covered .
sorry for this being so long and words not making sense i'm tired just wanted to ask this thanks

As far as I understand the waiting period only applies if you didn't have any health insurance prior to joining Hib Health ( or whichever one..). If you had cover & just changed from one co to another waiting periods don't apply for new conditions.

Re existing conditions - if you change co, you are covered for 2 yrs at the same level as you were in your old policy.

It's all in their policy book that you got when you joined - otherwise it's available to download from their website.

Normally you fill out a hospital claim form in advance- and the hospital advise you as to whether the treatment is covered or not. An MRI is around the EUR600 mark- so this is the least they can do.......
