    Hi,

Just wondering does anyone know if invisalign is suitable for closing gaps between my front top four teeth? And if it would be dear, I know its pretty pricey for top and bottom, but thought it might be cheaper if only getting these ones done

    Any advice greatfully appreciated

It would be suitable, but the cost to the dentist is the same if you only get your upper teeth done, or upper and lower.

Yeah, its still gonna cost u 5 grand! I'm hoping to get them by the end of the year.

There was a post about the Inman aligner a while back, that specifically deals with ur front teeth. Its much cheaper.

This is not a orthodontist or a specialist of any kind. Try the orthodontic society of ireland for qualified orthodontists.

BDS does not equal DipOrth. or MOrth!!

Irishboy, one thread is enough for the reccomendation. Dont have me following you around every orthodontic thread. Please read the charter regarding post count and reccomendations. I prefer not to name individual dentists also.

And again BDS = general dentist only.

Also for the dentists here check out the case study G & E are my favorites.

However, you do not need to find a qualified orthodontist in order to get Invisalign. Qualified dentists are qualified enough to provide Invisalign. Don't have me follow you around every Invisalign thread to remind this to you.

Qualified dentists who have done the day course and watched the dvd and paid the royalties are qualified enough to provide Invisalign. Don't have me follow you around every Invisalign thread to remind this to you.

    fixed that.

Who exactly is this directed at? Because if its fitzgeme, I'm not happy. Explain yourself. And explain why muppet check shows you having the same ip as 'me right one' who was recently causing problems in a locked thread in this forum.

Eh lighten up. Yes it was aimed at fizgeme. Just annoys me a little that everytime someone on this forum mentions somewhere that you can get Invisalign, the first response from certain posters is "but that's not an Orthodontist, go here to find an orthodontist". Some people might then think that these people are not qualified to give Invsalign. Just reminding people that you can get Invisalign from Dentists and there are many very happy customers who have done so. The "don't have me follow you round" bit was me poking a bit of fun at fitzgeme because that was what he said to someone else. Chillax.

I hope I have adequately explained myself for you.

In fairness..that drives me mad aswell, people going on about getting an Orto for invisalign. Im being fitted for mine in 2 weeks by a general dentist. He just supplies me with them, the moulds etc are made by the people at invisalign. They control the treatment plan, not the dentist, or ortho.

I know 2 people that have finished invisalign treatment and they are over the moon with the results.

    That is incorrect.

When Invisalign is provided by a General Dentist, you are quite right when you say that the treatment plan is devised by the Invisalign technicians, based on models and an xray of the patient's teeth.

However, when a Specialist Orthodontist provides the treatment he or she prescribes and controls the treatment plan using a process called ClinCheck. This allows the orthodontist to tailor the treatment objectives to the individual patient, based on his assessment and diagnosis of their orthodontic problems.

I have been told i will have access to Clincheck aswell. Im not 100% sure what it is, but its available at my request.

Yes Lorita, a GDP has access to clincheck and can change the treatment set up. I'm a general dentist that uses Invisalign for some treatments but the Orthodontist is also an expert witness and he is kept busy by GDP's jumping in where they should have stood back.
Invisalign is a great tool, but it's more limited than Invisalign the company like to let on, it's very easy to promise things that can't be achieved and it always looks stunning on clincheck and successful!.
Canine and premolar rotations don't quite follow the animations....
I think it's reasonable not to refer people to GDP's for Ortho treatment?

Please avoid resorting to petty sarcastic remarks if you have a problem. Particularly directed at mods. You're being very un-dude.
    Chillax.
If you would like me to chillax, take it to the help desk forum. On thread criticism of moderating will not be tolerated. It's a warning this time.

I'm a mod, it's my job to make sure the peace is maintained. We are gentle mods here at dental issues. I think you'll find that in other fora here on boards.ie, what you said would have gotten you banned.
