Ok - I've decided this log might be the motivation I need!! Basically I'm pretty much a now and again runner.. I go through phases of doing a bit - doing a race.. and then doing nothing for ages - and loosing what fitness I had gained.

I did the Achill Half Marathon this year in 1:53 (which I was delighted with.. ) However, motivated as i was to continue on with two more half marathons this year - I bailed on both and bailed on training! This annoys me! I've absolutely no excuse bar laziness!

Ok so with the long weekend ahead (which I'm away for..) Next week is going to be the start of my training...

    Here goes...

Ha - so ok it took 2 weeks to actually get started!!! But I've done it... got out on saturday morning for about 3 miles, nice easy jog - but I really enjoyed it - so here's to starting properly!

Just looking into a few races to give me motivation to keep going....

10km on 12 December I think will be first..

So I'm gonna give myself an aim of 45 mins for that (tall order - but I like it!)

Well within your range. Best of luck with the log.

That was some deceiving wind... Decided on a 5k run to "ease me in!" HA!!!! Stupidly I decided to run INTO the wind which felt BALTIC and had me heaving within minutes!!! Was puffing and panting the whole way around - so sorry to all those in the park who had to endure that..

But I dragged myself around and finished it in 28mins.. was not pleasant.. Note to self.. run with the wind at your back!!!!!

I know, it's not easy getting out for a run in the cold (artic like  ) evenings, but the satisfation when you get home, wins hands down!

Now, I'd better remember these wise words myself tonight :D

Good luck with the log, it definately helps to note down your progress.

I hear ya. When the wind and the rain are on your window the last thing ya want to do is go out for a run but the rewards are worth it.

This is the first 'Irish' winter ill be running. Only started taking this running malark seriously this year. Last year i was in upstate new york on study abroad and ran there too but there was never a wind at all. The coldness was bitter and inhumane but for me, it was easier to go out in the evenings for a run when there was no wind!

Man I'm in the exact same boat. I got a heel injury last year and sat on my arse. Didn't even make a huge effort to get it sorted out. Now it's still half there and even though it's not sore to run on anymore I'm just too lazy to get out and get back into training. I tell myself to cop on everyday but I end up only getting out about once a week. It's very bad. I think you just have to be really really aggressive with yourself. A bit like trying to kick drugs or something except the opposite! I have to keep saying to myself, don't fall to the temptation of a comfy couch and TV instead of a gruelling hill session or a 40 min. run. It is true. You're always happier afterwards when you make the right decision. Same with everything I suppose. Running, study etc. Just have to keep remembering that.

Ok - with the friendly weather I'm feeling more motivated!!!

    Played a match on sunday..
Took Monday off (feeling sorry for my bruised thumb!)

So today did a nice 5.5km run - at an good pace for me - think maybe 25mins (I don't have a garmin or anything) prob bit easy for my running buddy, really really enjoyed it!! Nice mild evening and lotsa time for an oul natter!!

Plan on rejoining my gym to get me doing something on the colder days.. I'm telling ya - today is a good day!! Even considering the beach run in Dollymount on Saturday!!

    Just call me Miss Motivator!!!

Made it to gym yesterday - just did a wee bit on treadmill and crosstrainer and had quite a nice swim... had planned a run today - but feeling bit under the weather so might see how I feel later.

Gonna look into the Fit4Life runs... think there's one near me..

OOps - been slipping up on my log.. my running has been slightly bad too.. however got myself out there this morning in the gale.. did about 8k, in bout 50 mins (stupidly again I ran the second half into the wind - I'm starting to wonder have I been losing brain cells along the way somewhere??) Up to the halfway mark though I felt great - was really enjoying my run.. even though it's over a week since I've gotten out running - I've been to the gym most days this week doing a bit on the treadmill - so it's sorta stood to me!

So I'm home now looking out at the wind and rain - and yep ye were right I feel great now!!! Thanks!!
