    Hi,
I am looking to buy some bio diesel. I was looking to buy it buy the 1,000 liters or so. or even buy at the pump if they are close to me. I don't want to know about bio-diesel and how it works I have read it all up, so please don't post info about it or questions about it there are loads of threads about that I was looking to make a helpful list for other people. I live near Drogheda if that helps.

I presume you are referring to rapeseed oil stuff rather then the stuff coming from the pumps at Topaz, etc.

Have you contacted Teagasc - I know they were quite involved in the R&D about 10-15 years ago (in Oak Park).

Royal BioFuels in Athboy sell it to the public, primarily for car fuels. I had pondered asking them about buying it for home heating in bulk, afaik it should have a very different TAX rate in the price (much lower) when sold for Heating vs auto fuel.

There's a company based in Galway GMIT, that does Biofuel for fleet type stuff. I can find the name, if it's of any interest.

I've also seen a few petrolstations in Westcork and around the Cork/Limerick border (Charleville) doing bio-diesel at the pump.

As a matter of interest is the auto version distinguishable from the home heating version?

Yes - It's marked, same as normal diesel.

There's a fellow down in Kilcoole in Wicklow does it, but I don't know if you'd be making enough of a saving to justify the trip....

He can just about produce it fast enough to meet demand, so he's able to hold his price at about 94 cents per litre. I was only asking him recently about buying 1000L and while he was prepared to sell it to me, he wouldn't discount it.... Can't fault him really either if there's enough demand.

I used 70% veg oil to 30% diesel on my 406 td when veg oil was around 70cents per litre...It loved it....:D
i'm afraid the Di's of today don't like the veg oil..

If your using bio diesel i'd say change your diesel filter more frequently...:)

I've been buying it from Royal bio in Athboy, it's 86c per litre.
Best to call them before you go there (046)9487534 as they don't always have it in stock.
