Iphone/Itunes - Ringtone problem

When you purchase a song from Itunes, converting it to a ringtone from your Iphone ought to be (well, supposedly) straightforward. You right-click on it, and hit "Convert to Ringtone", and follow the instructions to edit it, etc.

Unfortunately this won't work for me. When I right-click and select "Convert to Ringtone", an error message appears which says:-

iTunes could not connect to the iTunes Store. An unknown error occurred (11156).

Make sure your network connection is active and try again.

Needless to say my network connection is fine, and I can access the iTunes store fine.

Can anyone give advice on what may be wrong here?

That doesn't work outside the US iTunes Store.

    Balls. Why is that?

I know there's a way to convert other songs to ringtones (ie. ones you uploaded from your own CD collection) - but I can't get this to work either

The US store has the functionality to convert a sample of purchased content to a ringtone. This was never made available outside the US.

Other stores now have the ability to purchase ringtones directly on the phone in the iTunes app there, but the Irish store does not yet have these.

What is wrong is that apple are giving a big FU to their customers, If you go to the apple website they explain on one of the boards that this is a copyright thing in some countries, instead of having a messege to explain this you are presented with an error messege.
I made a few of my own ringtones with AVS but now apple has stoped this also.
I dont mind apple protecting copyrite but it seems everytime I update Itunes somthing that used to be free is now gone. Its not that hard to go to a Jailbroke phone and to hell with Itunes but a few more things like this and thats what I will do.
