I am being moving from 'Unemployment Benefit' to 'Unemployment Assistance'. What is the difference between the two? I have to fill up a form as it is means tested.

The letter also states that I 'Alternatively, you may wish to sign for Credit Contributions, which is on a monthly basis and keeps your insurance record intact'. I have no idea what this means!

I will call to the Social Welfare Office tomorrow but would like to hear from anyone who knows anything about this.

    Thanks

UB is based on contributions you have made while you were working i.e PRSI.UA is based on non contributions or when UB runs out and they decide if you have any other incomes that would effect the payment. Both are the same amount. Not sure about CC but here is a link.
