Anyone got this yet? Is it worth buying? Wondering how it compares to the previous efforts?

Picked it up on Monday in HMV for €21.99. The documentary part runs for about 2.5 hours and is great viewing the whole time. There's also over an hour's worth of extras on the second dvd as well.

Watching the dvd, the one thing that strikes you is how much the Lions means to the players and staff (Geech breaking down crying after giving his last pre match speech as a Lions coach). Compared to the 2005 Clive Woodward and Alistair Campbell censored DVD release, this one offers so much more. POC at one stage must have set a new record for number of f*cks in one sentence.

Aside from the rugby, there are plenty of behind the scenes stuff with the players enjoying themselves (Kearney and Bowe trying it on with The Sharks cheerleaders). I also suggest that people pick it up instore rather than online as there is over 20 mins of extra footage on the special Irish edition of the dvd, including a few of the boys playing hurling on the training ground.

Anyways, would definitely recommend the dvd, especially for fans of the 1997 Living with the Lions release as it is very similar in style and tone.

Sounds very good, will have to pick it up over the weekend!

I actually thought it was really rubbish... The smarter players know to stay clear of the camera... you don't see Brian O'Driscoll feature on it at all, whereas the idiots like Nathan Hines seem to love it. The 1997 DVD was real and raw... but now guys are just playing up to the camera.

I just think if the Lions is this special band of brothers that they want to be, and I believe they are, this DVD devalues that. Like Mc Geechan breaks down in the meeting room... fair enough. But take off the microphone and turn the camera off... don't use this to sell a DVD. I think small parts like that are very personal and devalues what it really is all about.

I think if you look at the team that starts the first test, most of them completely avoided the camera. Mike Philips, Drico, Paul O'Connell... these guys weren't trying to sell DVDs out there and were there for the rugby.

What you describe as playing up for a camera is just a bunch of lads having some craic on tour. Lighten the fúck up.

Just watched it and i liked it. Geech breaking down showed just how much the Lions meant to him and its a credit to the man and his dedication. Its something we could all learn from.

Finally got hold of it, thought it was pretty good. I got the Irish version. No sign of any special Irish extras though, what disc are the meant to be on?

Disc 2 is different to the other versions. More Irish players mucking around. Mostly DOC, Fitzgerald, Bow and Kearney tormenting Rala. Funny stuff.

I thought this was the best Lions DVD since 97. A great watch, but might be worth waiting till it comes down in price a bit.

I got this from Amazon only to read here after about the Irish version - doh !

Anyway - very enjoyable, really impressive to see how much it means to the guys.

I have to admit though I was a bit underwhelmed by the pre match speeches by POC and Dricco as captains - was basically a tirade of colorful language with a bit of stuff about the shirt thrown in.

I also though it funny they seemed to make more of the fact that Phil Vickery was annihilated by the Beast than the ROG incident - in fact other than Shaun Edwards shouting from the side lines - I don't remember much about ROG at all.

Thats basically what a pre-match gee-up is all about. They're not limited to skippers either.

I suppose it would not be hard to beat the DVD from four years ago, there definetely seemed to be alot more comradery and humour on this DVD.I think however if you have seen the previous tour DVD's there is not a whole lot new
in the format or if you were watching or reading about the lions over the summer
I am not sure that you would get much more of an insight from the DVD.

Rala the bagman turns out to be a great character and there were some funny
moments with him and the Irish lads.It could have done with a few more f**ks and subtitles for the Shaun Edwards moments.:)
