Planetary Assault Systems gig news and giveaways

    Hi there,

The buzz surrounding this Sunday’s Planetary Assault Systems/ Ancient Methods/ Sunil Sharpe/ Rory St John/ Giles Armstrong gig is starting to spread like wildfire, and to make sure that no-one has to go jostling for a sweet (bass) spot on the dancefloor, we will be installing a Funktion One sound system on the night, ensuring that Andrew’s Lane is extra armed with heavyweight sound.

Planetary Assault Systems playing live in Ireland is a momentous occasion – something that has not happened throughout Luke Slater’s 15+ years of making genre defining records under this alias. The chance of seeing this very special live show again in Dublin anytime soon is unlikely, and alongside Ancient Methods we really can’t think of two techno acts more ‘on the boil’ in 2009.

We’re giving away some free passes for this Sunday’s show.
Simply go to: Planetary Assault Systems: From The Vaults and email us at earwiggle@gmail.com to tell us which track from this selection of PAS tracks is your favourite. Winners will be notified by Thursday.

    Good luck!

I know man, we're really charged up for our own gig but still sad we're missing the Warp night :(
In the early stages of organising our event we visited the idea of having some type of combined ticket which could entitle people to go to both, but to be honest that would just not have worked for a number of reasons, and both gigs had to go ahead on this date unfortunately.
The only way around it really is if people's favourite acts at Warp night have played by 1.30am or so let's say, that they head up to see PAS then. It's extra money to pay out of course, although it seems to be the only way that some heads are managing to work around the problem!

Thanks to everyone that entered the competition, we were overwhelmed with the response; it was enough to fill a small club!

There were no correct answers obviously, however ‘Booster’ and ‘In from The Night’ were the leading tracks voted for, closing followed by ‘Function 5’ and ‘Gated’.

Our five winners have been notified, and as we had such a huge response we also put some other random names on a special concession list.

Meanwhile we encourage you to get tickets asap, they are starting to fly now and we don’t want any genuine fans to miss out because they left it too late.

Thanks for the encouraging messages everyone, glad to see you are as geared up for this Sunday’s gig as we are!

Check today's Metro (if you can still find a copy!) for an interview with Luke Slater, put together by journalist supreme Richard Brophy. They have afforded the piece quite a lot of space - it is a very frank chat with Luke about both his personal life and musical career, check it out!!

I now find myself in the rather unusual position of looking for the metro paper :)

For anyone that missed yesterday’s interview with Luke Slater in The Metro, you can now read it here on the Test Industries blog.

We received lots of positive press in today’s papers, with one touting our event as "the capitals techno gig of the year". Tickets are selling fast we advise you to pick them up now to avoid disappointment at the door on the night.

Doors are open at 9pm sharp, set times will be up in the venue when you get in. See you then.

    Hi there,

Thanks to anyone who made it along last Sunday night.
The gig itself lived up to all expectations and more – Luke was itching to debut Planetary Assault Systems in Ireland, and played for almost one and a half hours in the end (long beyond his contracted one hour); likewise Ancient Methods had a total blast, and were blown away by the gig and crowd reaction they received in ALT.

Videos from the night (from Planetary Assault Systems, Ancient Methods, Sunil Sharpe) can be viewed at www.earwiggle.blogspot.com. If anyone got any footage of Rory and Giles we’d love to know so please get in touch if you have any!

We’re not sure of the exact date of our next event, but we’ve certainly got a few plans ready to hatch. Thanks for all the messages of support both before and after the gig – we always felt this was going to be an extra special event, and are glad it all went to plan!

As you may know, this is the last year of DEAF; we would like to extend our thanks to Karen and Eamonn for what they have done over the last eight years, and for how they have inspired so many club nights and collectives to think outside of the box and offer up so unique events and lineups for each year’s festival. We hope some of you will make an extra special effort to get to any remaining DEAF events today and tonight.
