Pan-Am Highway (Alaska to Argentina)

I am interested in cycling the pan-am highway sometime around 2011 - 2012. The route goes from the north Alaskan coast to the southern tip of Argentina.

I have been doing some research on this for the past few months, I have spoken to a Swiss guy who did it in 2005/06 - http://www.danigrab.com/
and I have been in touch with the four Irish Students whi did it recently - http://www.pacycletest.com/

I was planning on a solo run at this but might be interested in a group 2-3 of us. The route is about 25000km and might take somewhere arond 9-10 months.

So, first question, is anyone here interested ? I'm looking for 1 possibly 2 people. I would have no problem meeting up with folks for an initial chat/coffee to see if we could get something off the ground.

Its a massive deal, it means taking more or less a year out of your life not to mention serious preperation beforehand. But I think it could be the most rewarding thing. If I died after doing it, I would die a happy man in the knowledge that I lived my life beyond the envelope and saw a lot of the planet.

I wish you well with this endeavour dnme.
Just curious though - Wikipedia states that the distance is 29,000miles!
What is the correct distance from North to South?

Yea probably there or there abouts, depends on how much you hug the coast. If I do this, I am gonna do it in such a way as to try and get tp see / experience as much of my surrounds as possible. It wont be all push push, I'll take time out to sight see, kayak etc Lets face it, you gotta go and spend a while looking at the panama canal - you can't just cycle past it.

My timing of 9-10 months is very realistic, if you cycle 120-150lm per day and have a day off each week.
