Looking forward to hearing this, the con was great.

I liked The Con better but the new album is good. I particularly like "Hell" but then it's the lead single AFAIK so I guess we're all supposed to like it.

true. dont get me wrong, i loved the con but i think its nice to see them doing things a little differently. it would just get boring if they released the con again with a different name.

Just got this and on first listen it's quite good.

Don't think it'll beat 'The Con' though.

its out tomorrow! i plan on playing it to death.

This is another great album from Tegan and Sara. Again as usual I prefer Sara's songs. On Directing is just brilliant! The video for Hell is just mad but cool.
The two bonus songs 'Wrists' and 'Light Up' are also class.
I'm just beyond obsessed with them!

Great album, but why aren't they coming back to Dublin? They're playing Manchester and London soon, but no sign of a Dublin date.

That said, given the dodginess of the crowd for large parts of that gig last year...(you know who you are :p)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 647 ✭✭✭eire1

They'll probably be back next year, they did the same with The Con. The Con ws released in July 2007, they did a small EU tour around August 07, proper Eu tour Feb 08, and another small Eu tour in June 08.

I'm going to Manchester though, can't wait!!!!!!!!!

    Well let's hope that

    A. They play Dublin next year
    B. The crowd behaves themselves :P

Not saying it's not a great record straight off, but the more you listen to it, the more those melodies burrow into your head. I've had Northshore and Night Watch in my head all week :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,810 ✭✭✭Seren_

Got it earlier, so I'm listening to it for the first time right now. It's really good! It's a bit rockier than The Con which I don't think is a bad thing :) I <3 Northshore, what a great song.

i am sickened i missed that show, were the crowd really that bad? do you think that is the reason why they are not playing here?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 105 ✭✭sarah+1

That must be the reason. The crowd were really horrible, I wouldn't play here either. They said they'd be over to Ireland soon though.
Sainthood is incredible. The other bonus tracks "Sheets" and "It Was Midnight" are amazing too. The London and Manchester shows were great.

Yeah, Tegan told me on Saturday that they will be back here in the Spring sometime. Gotta love them, road trip!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 105 ✭✭sarah+1

Whoa I cannot wait. I'm really liking the Sainthood bonus tracks

Looking forward to this so much, The Con was gold. I don't know them apart (even though I know they have different-sounding voices) anyone care to help me there? :D

tegan has tattoos on her lower arms and sara has a big side fringe.

also, where can i get these bonus tracks?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 105 ✭✭sarah+1

It was a pre order/deluxe feature of iTunes US. They might make physical copies and sell them at shows or on maplemusic if we're lucky :) For now, check them out on youtube; 'Wrists', 'Light Up', 'It Was Midnight' and 'Sheets'.

The Con and Sainthood are great albums. They also do a great "Dancing in the Dark" cover.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 130 ✭✭melissavm

"Where does the good go" is fantastic! I love "the con" too

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 115 ✭✭zippygirl

umm well underground in the sense that not EVERYone knows about them and somewhat mainstream in the sense that they are "known" and that you dont have to rip out all your hair looking for them!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,575 ✭✭✭NTMK

they are pretty big in the us and overrated imo. definitely not underground. they just haven't broke Europe cause they are not anything special

Sainthood is my second favourite after So Jealous. I find The Con a bit inconsistent though compared to their other albums, while there's a few great tracks on it there's plenty of filler too.

really? i am the opposite, i think the con is the best followed by sainthood. i have the exact same problem with so jealous that you have with the con, it just seems like there is a load of filler on it.

i had to give away my dublin ticket because i wasnt going to be at home but i bought a ticket to see tham a few days later at the roundhouse in london. this will be my first time going to a concert alone, it should be fun none the less.

    6 days til the gig!

I don't know how, but I completely managed to miss every single one of the bonus tracks from 'Sainthood', so I'll have a busy few days trying to remember them back to front :)

I doubt they'll play any of the bonus tracks from Sainthood. They've only ever played Light Up before, once at a teeny sold out acoustic show in Brooklyn!:(

I'd love to hear Sheets live though!

there is a free acoustic show in tower records on wicklow street at 2pm on the 15th if anybody is interested. i am kicking myself that i will be away.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,138 ✭✭✭takola

Only just realised they had a new album out.

It sounds good so far. The Con is one of my favourite albums though so I'll be very surprised if it beats it for me.

oh man... and im not there.... would have LOVED to see it...

Did anyone who went to the gig in the Olympia feel a little bit let down?
I qued for the majority of the day, got the front row in the pit and had a spot right infront of Tegan and I couldn't help but feel that they just really didn't want to be there. The banter was minimal and they kept playing song after song without a break at times and it felt like they wanted it over and done with from the get go. I think the quality of the music was there, but the love certainly wasn't. I remember when they played "Nineteen" and thinking 'great this one is really going to steam roll me with emotion' but no.... That feeling never quite came.

Please note that I am most certainly not a T&S basher. I wouldn't have wasted hours of sitting on a dusty floor on such a glorious day for any old band.
I hope next time they play here they show a little more enthusiasm.

i will let you know if they are like that on thursday!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 715 ✭✭✭_sparkie_

i am just back now, i had an amazing time! there were people outside the roundhouse all day but since there was no pit it just didnt make sense to me. i arrived at about 6pm and the doors opened at 7, i just walked right up to the front row.
the show was great, they played a really good mix of old and new. when they said they were going to play old songs i thought they ment 'the con' era but they went back to a lot of stuff from 'so jealous' which i was really happy with. the acoustic version of 'back in your head' and 'feel it in my bones' were just deadly. the banter was good and they seemed to be having fun.

as for the crowd, i dont think i have ever seen so many lesbiens in one place at the same time ever! i must have been the only straight fella there. the crowd were not into the show at all, nobody was clapping or dancing. they just stood still during the songs and then cheered at the end, sara even mentioned it at one bit. it kinda put a downer on the show but i just forgot about everybody and had a blast, the lesbiens of london must think i am insane. ''dancing and clapping at a concert, why thats unheard of in these parts''
