Wondering if anyone knows where I might go to get the deeds for a house or just find out where they are.
It is my mothers house, she has alzimers and can not tell me where they might be. The house waqs bought outright about 35 years ago, so they are not in a bank that I know of. Would I need to get a solictor on the job? or is there another way of going about it.
Thanks in advance for any help

Likelihood is that they are in a solicitor's safe somewhere, although its always possible that your mother filed them away. Indeed they could be anywhere.

I suppose, there's a good chance that the deeds have been registered in the Registry of Deeds. In which case, it is possible to do a search of the Registry through a law searcher's office. This may not tell you who has the originals, but then again, there may be documentation registered which would point you in the direction of a solicitor's office.

    Hope that helps.

Not to be glib, but the deeds will be wherever they were left. If the house was bought outright 35 years ago, start with the people involved in that transaction including the solicitors acting - ultimately the purchaser or their solicitor/agent should have ended up with the deeds.

I agree with TheVan that a solicitor would be of assistance in getting some leads.

If they are lost title can be reconstituted in a number of ways - hopefully that won't be necessary.

Sorry to hear about your mum.
