Why not just hit a banklink in Bangkok airport. Thats what I did.

    Hey,

Thailand is very tourist orientated, banklinks are pretty much all over... Costs about 2-3e per withdrawal, depending on what bank u are with (in Eire) & also what bank u withdraw from...

    Enjoy that shidazzle.....
P.s. useda live there till i wrote off me motorbike & had to return to this misery!

I bought a small amount form AIB here before I went and withdrew the rest over there from banklinks

Rate was roughly 21euro to 1000baht last summer

was there two years ago, went over with euro cash

went to bureau de change on the streets and they changed it to baht with no commission.
i checked online and they gave a batter exchange rate than BOI were giving at home

Heading april 2nd to thailand. I see the currency is weakening due to a bit of political turmoil currently -http://www.antara.co.id/en/news/1268220085/thai-bath-weakens-on-market-concerns-over-applying-security-act

Is the best bet though always to exchange over there rather than here? If I was to to change some here where would actually carry baht? - boi/aib in dublin?

and should i bring US dollars as suggested in this thread?!

    thanks in advance :)

i go there a few times a year, don't exchange before you go, Irish banks give a crap exchange rate...if I were you, I'd just bring euros with me, there are exchange desks everywhere, including the airport, much better rates over there and no surcharges.

If you are not comfortable bringing cash over, next best option is just use an ATM card, rates not as good at all though.

If you are in Pratunam, go to a place called ' Best Exchange', its exactly what it claims to be.

Cheers for that. Hopefully this wee bit of political instability gives a good exchange rate when i get over there(but dos not affect my time there!). :)

hmm good luck with that! Currently, its about 44 baht to the euro, which is the worst I've seen it in the last 2.5 yrs of me going there..its usually about 49 or 50 baht to the euro..big difference if you going there on business but nothing major if just for holidays.

Hope you have a great trip, its an awesome place.
