I got a job in Next and ive been planning on gettin my lip pierced but i'm worried if i get it done i'll have to take it out when i start.
Even though on the day of my interview one of the managers had hers done.
Anybody know what their policy on facial piercings there is?
    Thanks :)

Ask yourself if you really have to have this piercing or if you could live your life without it while working in a customer-facing role. The exception would be if your employer was in the piercing or tattoo business.

You're generally ok with piercings in fashion retail.

Only retail jobs that would have a problem with them would be places where food is involved. So supermarkets, cinemas etc.

Also, just ask around your coworkers once you start.

To be fair that is your opinion and not necessarily true of the majority of the workforce. Far less tacky IMO than fake tan, an awful lot of the sort of make-up people wear and a hell of a lot of other stuff.

If the manager had one then I would say you are absolutely fine, but I would check first. There is no harm in asking. Any of the big chains I have worked for have been fine about piercings, tattoos etc - music shops, book shops, all grand. The only places that have had a ban on them have been, as has been stated, places that deal with food or anywhere that they might pose some kind of hygiene risk.

Shops like Top Shop and Urban Outfitters have staff covered in tatoos and piercings and it doesnt look tacky at all. Makes the shop more intersting tbh!
But yeah thats true about the hygiene risk! Not starting for another week so i guess i'll just wait and see when i get in there :)
