Norton 360 virus definition error

Hello. I would appreciate any help with this. I recently purchased a Compaq laptop that came with a Norton trial pre-installed. I also purchased a Norton 360 version 3 disc, to install after the trial expired. In order to install the 360 on disc I had to uninstall the Norton trial, then the 360 installed. It appeared to work fine. However, I now have an error saying that ‘the virus and spyware definitions are out of date’. When I try and ‘fix’ them the live update just keeps running. Today, I downloaded the automatic live update and when I ran it, it said all updates were ok. I still have the error. I am just wondering is this a really serious error? I use the laptop for personal use, nothing major. Is there any way to fix it? I live in a non-broadband area. Thanks a mill
