We just got a new tv over the weekend.

One of the New 5 series Samsungs, a 32" full hd with an mpeg4 digital tv tuner(so it's ready for irish digital tv next year).

It was €479 Redmond Electric, Gorey.

Although i would imagine that all euronic stores have then at that price too
(i am aware this is not a bargain, but it is a good price)

Would the series 5 not be an older model?
I have a series5 32" full hd that i bought last year and it has no Mpeg4 built in.. It does have the slot on the back to take a cam alright

No there's a new 2009 5 series(and 4 and 6 series for that matter), i'm guessing the model the poster say was the 32B530:)

in my opinion Sharp make terrible HD TVs,their screen refresh rate makes every film looks like a TV movie, and makes some action look like its playing in double time. Anyone else notice this?

It's a "Sanyo" and it's down to €449.99 from €479.99. Seen it on display in both Xtra-game and Xtra-vision today and the picture quality was brilliant. Id compare it to the like of a similar Samsung/LG.

Thanks Sugarman. Prune juice gone to my head.

On the pricing: Xtravision Rathmines have definitely got it for €429.99. They had Coraline on Blu on a series of tellys and it stood up against a (V? W? One of them) class Sony, I was very impressed.

The €429.99 model is only HD Ready and, the €449.99 model is Full HD. I saw the Full HD model running and the picture is suberb, one of the best I've seen.

If you have a slow moving great quality source then an HD/ HD ready tv would
    look good.

Sony tv's like you are saying though make SD sources look a lot better then some cheaper TV's.

For example I had a 37" philips sky and freesat HD. Freesat HD looked great
on HD channels and okish on non HD. Sky looked ok also, but I recently got a KDL46W5500 which is 46" and the picture for SD looks a way better and clearer than the smaller set. Makes no sence to me only that the Bravia 3 engine improves the picture a great deal.

If you are buying a tv to watch pixar movies all the time on blu ray then any would do but if you want to watch something like 300 or other action movie with fast moving video then you will feel left wanting.

I made this mistake when I bought the Philips. never again.
