Not sure how to ask this but here goes. I am a 21 year old girl and I was just wondering what the general consensus towards hair in the nether regions eg pubic hair.
What do guys like or what do woman have e.g full hairy or bald or whatever. The reason I ask this is that I have never had sex therfore am unsure of how I should look for a prospective partner. any feedback greatly welcome

I'm sporting a brazilian at the moment as a Special Treat for himself but thats a very rare occurance for me.

TBH by the time the man gets to the magic triangle he's probably just so happy to be there that it doesn't matter all that much whether you're hairy or not.

If you do decide to do some removal its probably better to go to a beautician and get waxed. Its messy at home. Hair removal creams can be good but I've had ingrown hairs from them before.

I think the most important question should be 'what are you most comfortable with?'.

This is your body first and foremost. If you find a long term partner, then you can discuss what the two of you find sexy.

Keep the responses clean, HELPFUL and on-topic please posters.

OP - the answer is whatever you're comfortable with. Each to their own.

I would say for a beginner (as it were!) that just keeping it neat is all that can be expected, really. OP, use a nail scissors to trim it down and keep it nice and neat... no man is going to run screaming from you if you're not groomed to his personal preference, and you can wait until a later stage in a relationship to find out what that preference is and if you're prepared to do that.

Don't put too much pressure on yourself... do what feels comfortable to you.

    EVERYONE Likes it different.

Me personally, I like a bit of hair but trimmed neat and CLEAN. I don't like the Bald look just because it doesn't put me at ease, for me I just don't like the pre-pubescent look. But that's me.

I know a few fella's who hate ANY pubic hair. And I know 1 who actually asked his GF to keep a full on 70's style.

If you get 10 people in a room you will likely get 10 different answers, but the most common thought IMO would be if it is kept clean and well maintained you will be perfectly fine.

Personally i prefer some hair. get bikini wax and razor short the rest?
    Will be grand!

Bald some ppl like some don't. I would not worry to much about it!

Whatever you are comfortable most with that will let you show confidence will likely be the most attractive!

I wouldnt be too worried! I used to be! Altho after a few years with the same person they dont really care either way, and can have fun trying out different things to surprise them!

Trim, neat n'tidy is really your safest bet OP, and like the other posters say, you can find out your partners preferences at a later stage and trim it in accordance with those. Or, if you are like MY girlfriend, you can find out your partner's preference and then tell him you're doing your own thing anyway.

I defy you to find a lad that likes a large hairy unkempt bush though. It's a no-no imo.

As people have said, what you feel comfortable with is what you should go for.

However, if you want my male, subjective opinion.... Keep it neat and trim. I was with a girl recently enough who had a forest and I was so grossed out. It made me remember getting food stuck in my beard back in the day. *vomit*

Trimmed is fine IMHO. Can't stand the bald look. It's natural to have hair there, and the only reason you might want to trim is to avoid an 'organic dental floss' situation...

Just keep it sort of neat by trimming from time to time with an electric trimmer.
Not a fan of brazilian wax/ totally bald at all.

Think about it - would you like a fella to have his entire pubic region waxed??

Keep in mind that if you get it shaven/trimmed, the hair is likely to grow back a lot more wirey than it was to begin with. I'd go along with the concensus that you should only do whatever you're comfortable with. If you specifically want to have a wax or a trim- for you, go for it. Guys are all different- and have all sorts of likes and dislikes- getting a particular treatment with the expectation that a future partner is going to like it, is a non-runner. Most guys who eventually get close enough to you that you'd consider sleeping with them- will be thrilled full stop- and if they're not- well, you probably deserve better.

OP here, thanks for the feedback, I kinda knew that a full on bush would be a bit too much but didnt want to go down the bald route, as one of the posters said its kinda prepubescent and weird, but in general the feed back is great and thanks to all, I feel a bit more confident about it all :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,324 ✭✭✭Oh The Humanity

Nah, everything off is not weird and 'prepubescent' -I find that judgement quite offensive really.

Everyone is different and entitled to their likes and dislikes, to draw a parallel between women who like the bald look and prepubescent girls and to somehow infer that men who enjoy that are 'suspect' is wrong and offensive.

Some people think full bush is disgusting and some think bald is disgusting. But to bring in inflammatory statements about peoples personal preferences is out of order.

    Each to their own.

Why is a full on bush too much? What kind of man would seriously have a problem with a bush? If you prefer to keep downstairs hairy then go for it. IMO, its such a trivial thing as to be irrelevant.

When i hear guys talking about, i prefer it trimmed or bald, it really makes me laugh. Too many metrosexual men out there with too much time on their hands. It was never a problem with my fathers generation but nowadays it seems that if you don't have a designer vagina, you are not keeping with the program.

Too many people reading to many magazines on what or what isn't acceptable. Its a load of bollox. Do what you want with your own body hair and don't listen to what anyone else says. My 2 cents.

OP, by all means keep it as you are confortable with, but if you'd like your chap to 'reciprocate' he'll find it easier, and vastly more pleasent to do so, if he doesn't have long hairs in his mouth.

    hair doesn't taste nice.

i once met the traditional 70's look on an beautiful, smooth-skinned Italian girl at university, it went from her belly button to half-way down her thigh - it was not a turn on. the only place it would have looked 'natural' was in a zoo.

a beard/hair trimmer - say about grade 3 - is perfect, you could then wax/shave to create your design of choice should you wish, but neat and trimmed is the key to enthusiastic 'reciprocity' and bikini wearing.

    enjoy.

OP, you should do what makes you comfortable. It's your body after all and having hair in that region is completely natural. It's unfortunate that both genders have felt pressured to remove body hair in more recent years. I agree with you that totally bald is weird and prepubescent (and I don't care if that opinion offends anyone - build a bridge, get over it). If I ever had a partner who very strongly preferred completely bald, he would either have to deal with it, leave, or pay for the waxing and upkeep.
