After toiling away for the last year I am looking to finally bite the bullet and take some lessons. Can Anyone recommend a good pro in the Kildare area. I would be prepared to travel as far as Dublin also.

I really would appreciate some help on this one, I think getting a good teacher is pretty vital.

the best in Kildare is Brendan McDaid, the pro in Rathsallagh particularly ideal for a mid to low hcp'r.

i think he is more expensive than most, you'll have to ring.
He also does a day lesson for 10 or so people at a time with dinner etc included, personally i'm not into that as your not getting his undivided attention but each to their own.

Cheers guys. Thats plenty of options.

Its a thing I've always wondered, who are the best coaches in the country. Who is the Butch Harmon of Irish golf???

Perhaps I could rename this thread the best PGA pros in Ireland!

I'm not one to comment on lessons because I've only ever had one or two!

Neil Manchip is the GUI national coach @ carton house.
McDaid is very well renowned... worked on tour?

Darren McLaughlin the pro in Glenmalure. Very good and hands on. Will get you swinging the club well. One of our members has been taking lessons for three weeks now and has dropped hid handicap from 12 to 9.9. With a 45 and 47 pointer. Completely changed his swing

I'd highly recommend the pro in Portmarnock Driving Range.
I found it hard to find a pro who could teach me with all my bad habits and reverse grip.
Pro's name is Kevin Beirth, his number is zero eight seven twenty eight eleven two 0 two.

    Great first post

Brendan has indeed worked with some of the current Irish Pro's on Tour.

Another Ir PGA Pro who I have heard comes on good recommendation is Simon Byrne in Hermitage GC in Lucan.

Had a few lessons last year wiht Nicky Rombaldi in Greystones driving range noticed a huge improvement straight away he teaches the croker method which i found very simple and straightforward , focused on simple things like pressure points in the grip and took out a marker and drew on my hand on where to grip the club big focus on getting the hands right at impact and follow through, would like to go back for more but greystones is a bit of a trek now does anyone know of anybody teaching this method on the northside.

do ye think it is good practice to have 1/2 lessons at the start of each year? say around feb etc - trouble is, lessons normally mean one step backwards before 2 steps forward in my experience

I have a lesson with Neil Manchip tonight. Have found him to be excellent in the past.

Thanks guys for all the help. Much appreciated.

I too worry that all the time and effort I've put into my swing will be undone in one lesson.

Are their some coaches who are better for improving what you've got as opposed to completely rebuilding everything?
