Richard from WAV has experience in this area - check out his discography

The second half is international stuff he's done over 17 years based in Mastering Houses in London.

(Brand New Heavies is one that jumps out ...)

No, he's going to be quite good.

Richard is among the best regardless of genre, and clearly his experience would suit your genre. Most mastering engineers will answer the phone, and you are free to haggle.

He's not expensive at all. Sound bloke too. Got a 2 track metal E.P mastered by him a short while ago and he did a savage job. I've no doubt he'd do an equally well job with what you're involved in given his previous clients.

I'm just wondering what makes you think mastering should be genre specific?

If anything electronic genres should be easier to tweek...

Was just about to post the same thing.
A good ME should be able to tell what needs doing to make the material translate as best it can, regardless of genre.

anyone who has mastered both tim de graw and tony de vit (jaysus wouldn't fancy that!) probably knows what they're at in all genres!!!!

I would have thought that it'd be quite a differant thing to master each genre.

Differant styles want differant things to be more noticeable?
Some rock groups want the drum or bass to be focus. Others want synth sounds main focus nee?

    I dont have a clue. I'm not a techie..
i just want ideas for who has a good ear and plenty of experience, as i have heard far too many horror stories about people hating the mastered session they paid hundreds for.

I think you're getting confused between mixing and mastering tbh.
The mix should be definitive and shouldn't need a lot done by the mastering engineer - slight eq tweaks and overall compression. Mastering is not the place for messing with instrument balances.

    Ok. :o

Again, not a technical person. Writer, singer.
I imagine a ceratin amount of mixing adjustments are involved in mastering.

Just looking for names and suggestions - thanks a mill.
have contacted a few already and sounds great..

I imagine a certain amount of mixing adjustments are involved in mastering.

If that's the way you look at it, you're not going to get good results.
The mix should be finished when it goes to master.

As for good ME's, I'd recommend Geoff Pesche in Abbey Road.

But I honestly think you need to identify a mix engineer first.

Everything is alrready mixed to quite a commercial & professional standard but will need to be mastered..

    Thanks for the suggestions.
