    Heya,

Well in regard to lan parties I mean the private parties that you can have with people that are not public? Ones where you can have teams and strategy etc...

Regarding broadband I went with eircom business as its a 12:1 contention and its only for six months. No wireless where I am. Though withing a year the wimax coverge should be live...

WiMAx as in "Imagine WiMax"? Because that won't work for gaming. It's not broadband, it's midband.

Wimax will work perfect for gaming. A basic package is a 2mb up 2 mb down very little latency. Ive used wimax for networks and its an incredible piece of kit. There will be no reason for imagine to spend a 100m on a network that wont work for things like gaming. gaming is one of the bigger uses of broadband around Ireland. Now sat broadband wont work for gaming because of latency but a wimax signal only has to fly a few km.

Wait till it goes live and people start subscribing to the service. It will be useless for gaming as are all other wireless "broadband" services...

also i tought the new imagine wiMax isnt even the proper wiMax, something about being a mobile version of it and not a fixed one with an aerial and all that, which provides the best speeds, connections etc. The mobile version isnt much better than the mobile broadband today
