Upgrading Ram On Dell 1520

    hey guys

    i have a dell 1520 on vista basic currently with 1GB Ram.

    If i upgrade it with 2X2GB = 4GB Ram will this improve the performance of my laptop.

    yes, it will make a big difference.
    1GB is really not enough for vista

    You'll see a huge increase. Although 4 Gb is over kill, the operating system will only be able to see 3.5Gb of RAM.

    i know that i will only see 3 or 3.5 but i want to get the best out of it as its reall slow when running multiple programs

    The difference between 1Gb and 3 will be huge. The difference between 3 and 4 will be tiny. But sure go for either, things will improve greatly. After RAM the next biggest factor in system speed is the operating system. If you've had the laptop a couple of years the best thing to do would be to reload windows on to your machine. You would have to backup all your data first before doing that though.
