hi all, i was going to ask a similar question, but may as well just bump this thread.

i've got 3 Mobile broadband, it's fast enough...when i hold the dongle in the air, or beside the window !

so i'd like to see what hardware is out there that i can improve reception. Would this directional antenna do the job?

    cheers.

Good luck getting one of those antennas to work. I don't think they're much good.

You'd be better off getting a wifi router that accepts the modem, and putting that somewhere in the house that has good reception. There are 2 sticky threads at the top of the forum, with recommendations for routers.

you can also buy a wifi router in a 3 store for i think €100

ouch, that's not cheap! but thanks for the suggestions.

i have an eircom wireless modem/router, but there's no USB connection to accept the 3 dongle as an input source.

Our office phones are with 3 and we use the data modems. Now we kicked up a load s**t over the poor signal we were receiving and in our homes and such. 3 offer signal repeaters for homes that suffer from poor signal and such in an effort to boost there signal for mobile broadband.

Now after much complaining to the customer service we finally got these installed and to be honest. They have increased the signal for all of us. I've not checked it from a data point of view but more voice.

It doesn't seem to be posted on there website but there is stuff in there shops about it. Well that is where I saw it the day. I hope that helps
