    The passenger pedals to assist when going up hills. It will be in the new Prius as Toyota are abandoning the batteries

    I think you are mising something out of the sentance... as it doesn't make sense...

    It should read something along the lines of: you need a passenger drive axle ( or other appropriate word) for your corolla

    It probably means a passenger side driveshaft. Often its just called a "drive"
