Is there something missing/extra on the stock? Can't figure it from the picture - it's usually an open stock.

It's a completely different stock to the normal one. One of those ones you see on M4s where the battery goes in the stock.

No that's the way it was bought, and i bought it new. its an extendable stock, pretty handy too. It can be modified if desired
