    Hi guys,

I'm just looking for a little bit of advice please.. I am looking to buy my first tri bike and I was kind of looking at this one http://www2.giant-bicycles.com/en-us/bikes/model/trinity.0/3888/37067/. I have the budget for this one. Also I'm 5'9"/5'10" tall with about a 31" leg. So I'm presuming the small size would be the one for me? Any info, help or opinions would be greatly appreciated. I currently have a Lapierre rcr300 which I do like. I got fitted for this and it's a 52cm frame. Many thanks, Dave.

I'm guessing by your name your from Cork... The Edge tri shop on North Main street does bike fittings, I've bought stuff there and tbh (other than some prices) I cant recomend them enough. I'm not 100% but a fitting is €30-€60, if you buy a bike off them you get it back.

Or if you want to wing it here is Giant's sizing chart. Best of luck with the tri's

Thanks very much for the info. Yes I've got a good few bits and pieces from the edge and that sounds like a great service. I don't think it's something I should really guess at. I'll probably try and get to a store to try them out.

How about the bike guys? Anyone have any opinion on it?

    Thanks in advance,
    Dave

I got one last week but have only had a chance to do a 30min ride - feckin work. I'll come back after I hopefully get a long ride in on Sunday.

I'm a similar size to you and I got a medium. Had to cut the tri bars and seat post back a bit to get a fit but a small would have been way too small for me. Wheelworx have a small in stock as far as I know if you want to get a fit.

Hey Griffin, thanks very much for the info. Size is not as big an issue for me really as I will get fitted for it. I guess now I'm more interested in the bike itself. If it's a good bike and good value...

Sorry guys I have also noticed that Giant have another trinity bike but it says it is only 9 speed. Although it the pic there are 2 rings in front. Is the 9 speed referring to 9 cogs on the cassette end? Apologies again for being such a newbie but we all have to start somewhere.

    Dave

Yes, with road bikes the standard definition is according to how many at the back, so 8/9/10 speed on modern bikes (Campagnolo like Spinal Tap goes to 11.) Most have two on the front these days although you can still get triples.
