Saturday Spin with Mountain Bikes

I've started doing road spins on the sunday and I don't want to overload the weekends with too much road, so I was thinking of dropping back on the number of saturday spins I do.

I was wondering, with winter approaching, would there be much interest in a boards group heading to the likes of Ballinastoe, Djouce, etc. and doing some trails at a typical boards pace (i.e. go your own speed and meet at the end of each section of trail).

I was hoping to do some of the MAD spins but they seem to have been on sundays so far. I haven't been on the mountain bike in a few months, so I was hoping to get out this weekend. Further in keeping with the boards theme, coffee and cake afterward in Enniskerry.

    Anyone think this might work?

Yup, me and my housemate will be up for this. This will only be our second mountain bike trip, so you're the leader.

Why not road on Saturday and mtb on sunday ?! 3Rock this coming Sunday and Djouce the following Sunday!

Also, could do some night spins during the week..

    Excellent!

@Gavin: Orwell spins are on sunday now. Once I get a decent front light (would the Fenix do?) I will defo be up for some night spins.

    FAO Petethedrummer:

I have to go to a mass on saturday afternoon, unfortunately this means I won't be able to go mountain biking in the morning. Should be out next saturday though!

Grand, I think I'll be sleeping in tomorrow morning anyways. Hectic week at work. I might potter around Howth or practice my wheelies instead.

Next week sounds grand. I'll bring the Bulmers, you bring the Double Deckers.

I'd be on for a spot of MTB when I get back to fitness a bit. Have done NOTHING in a month!

do people ususally drive over to the trails or just cycle out. I'm not sure I'd enjoy a 20k mountain bike cycle to get out to wicklow ... does it take forever?

I've only been once and we drove. I wouldn't cycle over as I'm usually late and wouldn't fancy busting a gut on a MTB.

Anyone going mountain Biking tomorrow? I've had my fill of the road bike this week and wouldn't mind getting dirty.

Well, I'm back at square one after my day of torture in Djouce. Need to build my confidence back up. This means either Ballinastoe or the back garden.

Demo day sounds good, I don't know how packed it would be though:
Not sure if it’s a hard tail, soft tail or long travel bike you want?
Well let’s try and make that choice a little easier and altogether more fun.

Saturday 7th November from 10am-2pm Cycle Superstore, Cycle Inn and Giant UK will be hosting a Demo day in Ballinastoe Woods.

Bring your helmet, shoes if you have them and whatever friends ever mentioned getting on a bike before.

Bikes available for Test Ride on the day are:

    * Lapierre: Zesty, Prorace, Spicy, Froggy, X-Control
    * Cube: AMS, Reaction, AMS 125
    * Giant: full test fleet
    * KTM: will be provided by Cycle Inn

    Location:
    Ballinastoe Woods
    Saturday 7th Nov
    10AM - 2PM

Well my legs are shot, so pottering around with fellow beginners would suit me fine.

Just got confirmation from the driver of the team car that we will be heading to this.

Apologies chaps, I slept in. No excuses, I owe each of you a drink at the next beers (which should be soon).

No worries, we were very late, due to my map reading errors.

I didn't meet alfalad in the end. Was there with a mate and we looked MANLY.

I think those testing the bikes were just doing the upper loop, then changing bikes. We had a few goes on that, then headed down the rest of it. A great day out was had by all.

Well we didn;t get started till 11:30 the last time. Its not regular. will probably work at being once a month for me. Maybe twice.

So keep any eye on this thread or post when you want to go MTBing and someone might join you. I wouldn't mind having a go at part of the canals in the near future.
