Car Radio Trouble

First of all sorry if this is in the wrong forum....Ive searched around and cant seem to find a suitable one!

During the summer I bought a used car (99 opel astra). The previous owner had installed a new radio which could only play music from a USB stick, and was not connected to the arial of the car. This worked for a while but eventually just stopped for some unknown reason!

I then managed to take out the radio and reconnect it to the arial. Once all the stations had been programmed in I tried to push the radio back into place. However as I did this it died again and I havent been able to get it working again since!

The power light is coming on but im getting no sound what so ever from it! I dont know is it a fault with the radio, or with the connecting wires between the radio and the car speaker/arial!

Any help or suggestions on how to fix this problem would be much appreciated!!

its most likely you knocked a cable out of place when putting it back in.

my suggestion is to take the radio back out ensure all the connections are in securely and if that dosent work get a Opel official radio,

if you need a opel radio i can get you a tape radio but its an official radio. its being replaced with a cd player :)

yeah I had a look at the connections and they all seemed to be in alright (but im definatly not an expert so I could easily be wrong there)!

The car came with the original tape radio aswell as the newer USB radio. I tried connecting the original tape radio too but still no luck!

did you buy the car of a foreign guy over near dundrum by any chance ?

im in the same boat but with a vectra. but both our radios are fine.

the connections in the radio/wire could be fine but did you tear any wires or accidently pull it to hard ?

did buy it off a foreign guy....but down in Cork!

Dont think I pulled it out too hard....but if I did damage it like that, is there any hope of fixing it?

    ah right.

well if its just a case that a wire ripped then it can be just a case of solder it back together. but it does depend on what damage is there,

did you check out the battery ? connections for the battery may be loose ?
