Inspired by the car from the year you were born thread, what was the first car you were ever in?

I don't remember it, but it was my Granda's FIAT.

That's a really nice car. Are there any on the classics scene here?

We didn't have a car for a long time when I was small but I remember my Mum's friend coming to visit us with her brand new white opel kadett. She brought us out for a spin. It still had that new car smell and i remember vomiting all over the back seats :)

An Hillman Avenger estate was mine so I've been told. I'm not old though, just thought it pertinent that I mention that

One of these, my uncle owned it. But without the roll cage and beefy engine in this particular one.

Dunno ..but according to my mother (who's car it was) it was very unreliable, undriveable in winter and by the time it was sold there was more holes and filler on it than sound metal

My old man had one of these:

    E2-3.jpg

It had things that other similar cars didn't have at the time such as front seat belts, a cigarette lighter and a rear window defroster.

I can't remember the car, I ever first was in.

I can remember from my childhood, that my dad has a Volvo 142, then a 242.

The first car I was using on a field was a Beetle 1200

and the first car I drove on a public road was a Ford Sierra 2.0iS with chiptuning. 155 whopping bhp. This is back in '91, when i was 16, so it was quite a car to handle for me.

    Great thread BTW OP!

Anyone in to older cars will usually be influenced by a couple of things, i.e.: what they saw on TV as a kid or what their Dad used to drive!

1989 Opel Kadett in that very same colour and those very same wheels.

Have many photos of that car, great memories, I wish I could go back in time to them to relive it all again....

Fairly certain it was one of these, I was born in 1979. My uncle had one later on, and on holiday in Cork the feckin' thing couldn't climb the last steep hill before the house we were staying in!

My grandads Ford Prefect. I was about 5 or 6 at the time and we went everywhere together. I also remember having the occasional spin with my cousin in his massive pale blue Mk10 Jag!

Funnily enough, I was driven to school in one on my very first day (a white one). Have a photo of it as well somewhere.
