Nooby Question

Hey folks, quick question from an ameteur -

I;ve a Trek 3700 MTB which I haven't used in a good while. Decided today that because I'm getting fat I'd take off the two flywheels and bring them down to the local garage to re-inflate them (yes I know not reccommended etc but anyway - and they're not punctured afaik, just not used in ~2 years).

My problem arises when I took off the back wheel - some of the ball bearings from both sides decided to fly off with the axle, some flying under the oven where they're lost forever.

Presuming that reassembling the wheel without some ball bearings might break the bike or worse, me - is there a cheap and cheerful way to get new bearings and reassemble or would I be better leaving it into a bike shop - and what costs would be involved with either method?

Need a bit of advice, please! :P

    Cheers

I remember replacing bearings in a wheel of mine once upon a time. Got the spares from a bike shop for next to nothing or maybe for nothing, can't quite remember, it was 10 years ago.

Replacing the ball bearings is an easy enough task. Don't leave too many out though !! one or 2 won't make a huge difference but more than than will wear it out rapidly.
TBH best leave it into a bike shop and get it done, shouldn't be too much.
