seems they're doing all skoda timing belt replacements for 495 - including belts, water pump, all rollers and tensioners, G12 coolant.
I was quoted 650 in the indy I normally go to!

Is there an obvious catch I should be asking them about?

    also winter service offer 149.

wouldn't think so, we have been getting our SEAT's serviced and belts done by a main dealer and they charge approx €400-€500 all in fitted including vat for complete kit with water pump. Dealers are operating to standard times so prob about 2 - 3 hours labour plus parts and vat.

I accept they're coming back in price, but apparently my TB is tough little fecker (octavia 1.8T 4*4) and the indy, whom I trust, and has always been v.cheap on everything, said 600/650.

recently got the following done on my 03 Passat for £300 (€336):

    Timing belt and water pump
    Oil and filter change
replace CV (I supplied the part)
    replace faulty temp sensor

He used a Gates timing kit and metal water pump.

Only catch was he is in Belfast, but I was heading up there anyway.

    Here are his prices.

Are these still transverse engines, like the 1.8t vrs? Simple enough job on one of them.

I'd say it's a transverse engine alright, 4wd similar to tt and s3.

Got mine done at a main derler for 350 (530 including a service). That was belt, tensioners and water pump. Shop around down here - prices aren't as high as they used to be:D
