Got new Ipod touch, downloaded latest version of itunes but can't add files. The ipod icon is not appearing. I've tried syncing with windows media player and it seemed to work but then when I went to play it the music didn't show up on the ipod. When I plug it back into the pc when I open "view files" the music is there. Can't figure it out, had Creative vision m till now and it was so straight forward.

I think iTunes has to create a sort of library/database file for the iPod so that it knows what music it has and where. On a Mac, the music is hidden in invisible folders. I doubt WMP can do this.

The real problem is iTunes not seeing the iPod. You could try a 'full restore' of the iPod to set it back to factory condition. That will wipe out any data/music and settings you have on it but it is probably worth a try, then see if iTunes can see it.
