How to qualify to teach Irish as extra subject?

    Hey guys,
I did B.A. English & History, an M.A. in Irish Studies (English and History, with basic Irish) in N.U.I. Galway.
I will be going into the PGDE next year, and I would love to figure out how can I qualify to teach Irish too. Would the two year Irish diploma be of any advantage to me, or the TEG Irish, or what other avenues can I take without having to go back and do another whole B.A. degree?

Also can anyone explain what is the Ard Teastas Gaeilge, what does it qualify your for, and how do you go about doing it?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I teach TEG. Really the standard and intensity would be nowhere near Teaching Council standards. REally only a full BA will qualify you. But if you got the diploma and an understanding principal you might get a few Irish hours.

You can do half a B.A. Two girls I knew in first year went back to do that. Possible to do it while teaching aswell.
