Looking for cheapest car possible.

A cousin is back in Ireland and looking for as cheap a car as possible to buy, tax and insure, as he's hoping to be called abroad again the next 2-3 months.

Ideally said car should be as close to free as possible, but considering road tax has to be paid, a 999cc or less is desirable.

It should also be as reliable as possible, and as such he's not willing to entertain anything Italian,French or British, and probably not German (the more reliable German yokes, i.e. Mercs, are big and expensive to tax, so they're out). Japs are preferable but Fords and Opels might be considered due to being common and cheap to fix.

Suggestions from donedeal, buyandsell, adverts, etc please!

    This is an interesting challenge.

    not really.
Once you go the "cheap as chips" direction it really, really depends on the actual condition of the car in question.
500 euro might buy you a perfect car or a crumbling heap of problems ...just posting ads from t'internet ain't going to tell you which is which.

That wasn't really a useful post peasant.

Part of the challenge is to spot and avoid the clunkers.

I like what you're doing OP;)

Presenting this business of getting us to trawl through loads of ads for shite-hawk cheap cars and pick out the best for your benefit as "a challenge."

    Good luck with that:rolleyes:

Which would require at least calling the owner, and more likely viewing the actual car. And that, with the best will in the world, is your job.

Before you do that, I'd suggest looking at the likes of Seicentos and Micras. They're probably the bottom rung of the insurance ladder, and generally not too abused either.

There was a Micra for sale in the local Polish Supermarket notice board last week for 400 Euro - something like that would be ideal!

So it didn't really go the way you expected then did it? :) Do your own trawling through ads for $hitboxes you lazy sod.

Here's one on Adverts, but of negotiating and you'd have a cheap motor he can sell on when he's done :
