Just wondering what people thought of his run in the Dewhurst. I backed him for the Guineas few months ago and didnt know what to make of his run last Saturday. It was his first run in months after a delayed break but I must admit I wasnt really impressed with him. I know he led from a long way out but he didnt seem to have that special kick. Any thoughts?

Way too much daylight imho, could be a lot better than what we saw Sat with a more restrained ride.

Looked like he needed the run after the long lay off and no one took the lead off him so was stranded a bit. If he had another run this year, it might tell us more but avoid for now i'ld say.

On the Sunday Forum on ATR yesterday they were pretty dismissive of Beethoven and thought Steinbeck looked impressive. I think it was Matt Chapman, Simon Holt and some journo. Seems strange to why they would dismiss Beethoven after such a good win??

I had him backed , thought murtagh should have had cover but got there too soon comin from stall one. I'm sure he's still a good one , is he going to the breeders cup or is that him for season.
I think he good each way price for the guineas .

The winner may well go to the breeders cup which suggests he's probably not the most well regarded colt in ballydoyle. Steinbeck ran a decent race, very simular to the race Rip ran in last years dewhurst, but i wouldn't be running out to back him for the guineas just yet!! The horse to take out of the race could well be the second, he looked big green and backwards yet another couple of strides and he may well have won!!

Just got tired after seeing too much daylight from the start. Easily forgiveable. I'd rest easy if i had him at decent odds for the Guineas. My understanding is that he's extremely well regarded by the team at Ballydoyle. You couldn't say with any certainty he's definitely better than that but you'd be foolish to dismiss him after the Dewhurst.
