hey, i was looking for a second hand car battery out in summerhill spares but they didnt seem to have the one i needed, was wondering if anyone knows of anywhere else that might sell second hand batterys or is there any way to recondition my old one like putting it on a slow charger or sumthing?

May I ask why you need a second hand one, surely the cost of a new one, with a gaurantee is not much more than a second hand one?

You will get a brand new one from around €60. A second hand one may well be a false economy and fail on you a couple of months down the road.

I got one for my Golf for €55 at the weekend.

As an aside, I want to dispose of the old battery. How should I go about it?

I'd say check with the place you bought the new one from. More than likely they will dispose of it for a set fee.

If you want a new one then try a local motor factors or tyre centre.
