Don't listen to that big spender. Save your hard earned moolah and buy two of these

You might be waiting a while for delivery though.

No, it's in the post. They are getting good reviews on mtbr.com and bikeradar.com. TheTaxMan on here also bought one and seems happy so far.

The battery pack straps to the frame yeah.

I have both a Light and Motion Stella (headmount) and the Deal Extreme ones (handlebar mount), and for the price, the Deal Extreme ones are very good. I think the beam is slightly less focused than the light and motion, but other than that I would definitely recommend them for using off road. Only thing to be wary of is that they take a fair while to get here from ordering. I waited +3 weeks for them to arrive.

Silvo, did customs hit you on the one from Deal Extreme?

just to let you know about my lights.i bought these
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=15442 2 weeks ago have been to ballyhoura twice with them
they are spot on. the 5w isnt very strong but the 10w is excellent. reading the reviews on crc alot of guys change the 5 to 10w obviously this will affect battery performance but i found so far that the one 10w is perfect for off road.
i also have a torch on my helmet and use that for fireroads and use these then for the singletrack. this will give you plenty of run time out of battery as long as its fully charged.
they are currently selling for 78 i got em for 62 2 weeks but they are still well worth it. hope this helps.

Think it was 28e or so - for 2 lights and loads of mounts

Was it the Magicshine linked above that you bought or two torches?

Just wondering how come you needed the mounts with the magicshine

Apologies, the lights I have are this one: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.12060 and this one http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.14601.

The first one is very bright and could be used on its own. I did find in comparison with the Light and Motion that it was a bit fuzzier, but still fine to use. The second one is less bright, but would do for a secondary (on the handlebars) light. Although they look big (basically they are torches), they don't weigh much and are great value. I would really recommend them for anyone who wants to try out night riding but doesn't want to spend much money.

Oh, and yes you need to get mounts (head / handlebar) for them, as they are not provided with the lights (very cheap).
