Did you enter an out going mail server? If so, which one?

Hi,this is what I have set up
Normal Broadband from the phoneline (BT) going into a wireless router that is then picked up from the pc with a Belkin wireless dongle.
the outgoing one is set to smtp.o2.ie

Actually, the outgoing mail server for BT broadband is mail.iol.ie so stick that in and you should be working

You need to use your current ISP outgoing mail server address, BT is mail.iol.ie

I gave you the eircom one by mistake when i posted originally, did you try mail.iol.ie ? It should work.

You shouldn't have to start all over again, just edit the account settings.

No prob. Tried that and it is coming up with this error.
"task my email addy here-sending reported error (0x800CCC80): None of the authenticated methods supported by this client are supported by your server"

    Try this

Tools > Account Settings > Double click the account > More Settings > Outgoing Server > ‘Log on to incoming mail server before sending mail’

    And try again

    Thanks Vanbis.
Did that everything went into the background but ‘Log on to incoming mail server before sending mail’ remained checked.
Dont worry there is some love for you as well.

Want to set up my Yahoo.ie email address in Microsoft Outlook, so what setting for incoming/outgoing mail should I use. My phone bill is BT Ireland and my lines are owned by Eircom.

    Please and thanks

    @balliali
    http://help.yahoo.com/l/uk/yahoo/mail/yahoomail//pop/pop-06.html

You can use pop.mail.yahoo.ie instead of pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk if you want - they both point to the same server. Likewise for smtp.mail.yahoo.ie and smtp.mail.yahoo.co.uk. You do not need to use your provider's SMTP for this as Yahoo's SMTP accepts authenticated connections from remote networks.
