Manufacturer sales stats

Long story, so I'll shorten it a bit!

My brother is doing a thesis on the effect hybrid & electric car sales are having/will have on total passenger vehicle CO2 emissions in Ireland. The problem is simple The only manufacturer to come back to him with detailed stats (breakdown of sales per model/engine size) is Renault. Since Renault account for only about 5% of new car sales per year, extrapolating the total CO2 emissions for new cars from this data is imprecise at best.

But none of the other manufacturers will let him have their details. SIMI is no help - their standard end-of-year cars sales breakdowns are not nearly detailed enough and they refuse to give him any direct industry contacts.

Are there any other ways of getting these details? He's tried everything and they're just not being helpful. You'd think Toyota and Honda would be interested, but it seems not. Any ideas would be fantastic.

The VRO/Revenue will also have the information.

I would make sure to phone each distributor for Ireland as opposed to sending an email to info@bmw.com or similar.
