    Folks,

Went into the VRT office with car and filled out all the paper work and had the car looked at etc. But we didnt have a bank draft for the payment. The guy gave us the print out with the Clearance price and the yellow sheet. I have the bank draft also.

Is it possible to post this into the VRT office the finalise the registration or do I have to go back in with it and wait?

No - you have to go back to the VRO as they will have paperwork for you to sign there and then before issuing you a registration number.

The guy told us we had everything filled in though because I told him Id be coming in and not my wife. The car is being registered under my wifes name.

You can chance it from experience what will happen is will not receive registration details back for weeks.

And then you run the risk of the Gardas questioning you ask to why you havent transfered your car over to new plates.

For the sake of a half hour, I personally would go to the VRO office, get it done and dust, get my new reg no. go to car parks shop, 5 mins later your away with new licence plates and free to carry on with your day.

Its gona have to wait till next week so that my wife can go in herself so in case she needs to sign anything. No point in me going in and being told that she has to sign something else.

Just 'cos it's in your wife's name doesn't mean she has to sign it -it can be anybody. BTDT loads of times, so you can go in - you're not signing affidavit's or anything.

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
