Whitening teeth at home

I'm sure there have been countless threads about this - and for that I apologise. But as the search feature is not functioning, it is difficult to find the information I want.

How can I go about whitening teeth at home?

I used to have nice, white teeth, but what with a busy work schedule and that I began to get into the bad habit of only brushing teeth in the morning, and not flossing (ok, I admit - I've always been lazy when it comes to flossing), and that, combined with drinking Coke (the devil!) has made my teeth more stained and yellow than I like.

The weird thing is, they always look really white when I'm brushing them when the bathroom light (flourescence) is on, but if I switch the light off - they don't look as white and you can notice the yellow-ness on some teeth.

I have used whitening gel before, but I found that having a tray in your mouth is really uncomfortable, especially as I seem to have got an excess of saliva due to it.

I have heard good things about Crest Whitestrips. Would you recommend them? Could someone please explain briefly how they work - do they involve the use of trays? Can you talk while using them?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi :p

The teeth whitening at home kit is very effective, i've done it myself, but make sure you get impressions of your own teeth to make bleaching trays, and this shoud be done by a dentist so those trays shouldn't be too uncomfortable because they fit around your own teeth.
i've never used strips but i really don't think they work anyways and it's defo not a long term solution. There's a lot of kits available in the chemists but there all cimic im afraid.
Also u should brush the last thing at night thats actually the most crucial time.
    Hope this helps

I know this thread is dead dead old but here goes.....

buy a gumguard, like what the rugby players use. Try a sports shot. Put it into a cup of almost boiling water from the kettle, when it gets bendy, but not totally soft, pull it out of the cup, shake off the excess hot water, pop it into your mouth, and suck on it, suck it up to your gums, do this for a good minute or 2. The gumguard will then have the perfect fit for your teeth. Start off whitening everyday, then cut it back to maybe twice a week once you are satisfied with the whiteness. If excess saliva is a bother, only do this process while in the shower. That way you can spit down into the shower as the saliva builds up.

*Please note, this process is only 100% effective if you don't desire to sing in the shower!
