Just loaded up this crowd 2 mins ago! Great graph if you got in early :D, but down nearly 20% this morning, do you know what's going on?

How did you guage the oil find? Research reports or rumour?!

pocketdooz if you tipped 10 companies at the start of the year how come you have only 8 listed here

did you not buy into your own predictions? and why? or did you sell off 2 of them?

the last update of their performance you gave showed they were up 37% or something like that.

There were only 8 stocks in there. (Other mentioned were one bond and one currency).

4 are still in the 8 listed (LBTYA,TINY,LIFE - left out OI, forgot to include that here, sorry)

The two Fresenius companies I have sold out of due the regulatory overhang, Solera I sold due to the recent run up in EV multiple and the recent acquisition at a pretty high mult (imo) and the AMEX ETF I sold due to advice from DaveIRL, amongst others.

    http://ftalphaville.ft.com/blog/2009/10/21/78926/gulf-keystone-and-that-kurdish-oil-discovery/

BUDAPEST (Dow Jones)–Hungarian oil and gas company MOL Nyrt. (MOL.BU) is cautious concerning its joint oil project in Iraq after its partner Gulf Keystone Petroleum Ltd. (GKP.LN) made optimistic comments on a discovery, Hungarian daily Napi Gazdasag reports Wednesday.

Drillings in the Shaikan block in northern Iraq, where Gulf Keystone holds a 80% stake and MOL holds 20%, have proven successful. The reserve is estimated to reach 1.5 billion to 3 billion barrels of oil, Gulf Keystone said in releases in August and October.

MOL says it’s too early to say whether the finding will be suitable for sale, and an independent audit is necessary to evaluate the results.

After drillings in the Shaikan block, work will continue in the Akri-Bijeel block, also northern Iraq, where MOL holds a 80% stake and operator rights, and Gulf Keystone has a 20% stake, the report says.

Drilling in the Akri-Bijeel block is expected to take around four to five months, the size of a possible reserve can be estimated in February 2010 the earliest.

Don't be fooled by reports like such. This is an old artical that was translated from Hungarian to English to scare shareholders. MM's are up to their old games with this stock ;)

I have no idea how did you come up with such figure, but I'm up roughly 55-60% since February and that is including dividends, options and realized profits. I believe I still underperform. Markets are crazy this year.

I presume he got the figure by totalling up all the % over the 23 stocks. However he forgot to get the average which would mean that providing all investments were the same value (seriously doubt it) the actual return would be 50.5%

I would say your figures though of 55-60% are more accurate and impressive:D

would you think it would be a bad idea to buy into such a small company like this one.

Hi pocket FD are MMs and stock researcher for mainly small oilies and mining companies. I agree with you on being cautious about what you read on company websites. At the same time I personally respect their research, call it luck if you wish but if you google there GKP.L research it show a buy reccommendation at 12p. Three month the later the share has been in and around 10x this. That's 1000% up. I also must clarify there companies are high risk - high reward.

As like any share they have their pros and cons. I am only telling Daragh above my holding. I am not under any circumstances saying BUY.

This is my stock portfolio at the moment. Some may find this very risky. Granted 2 or 3 stock here may not go as I hope, but if 60% do, I will be very happy. If a stock does plummet I will hold them long term. I usually invest small at the start and build up when things start to heat up, also it helps to bring the average down. Made good gains on gulf which allows more scope with other stock.
With the AIM in paticular, it's vital to try and invest most of the funds when the share is at it lowest. Stocks in the AIM can go up and down 15 % for no reason at all. If you can keep your average down before they jump, your going to make good money. This is true for ever stock but the AIM is incredibly volatile. But I do enjoy it tremendously. The MMs aslo play puck here but I find it great to get my average down when a tree shake comes along.
With NTOG and Hawk, I didn't have a holding in them at the start but I do think that the reports will be good and if not I do believe that they have a bright future.
This for many would be classified Very High Risk. I just see potential tbh. Appreciate any feedback positive and negative ;)
The only stock I'm worried about is NTOG as I went against my rules and chased a trend which will probably bite me!
I have invested very little in most of the stock (15% of what I'm putting in each) as I'm waiting for the right time to pump money in and bring the average right down.

    Name Invested: Profit/loss
Asian citrus Holdings(ACHL): 3%: +72% Would like to top up if funds are available

Faroe Petroleum(FPM): 4.5%: +63% Sell at the end of drilling campaign in a few months

Gulf Keystone: 31%: +219% Sell when they reach total depth in a few weeks

NightHawk Energy(HAWK): 31%: - 1.73% awaiting imminent results for Independent analysis

Vialogy(VIY): 15%: -9.5% next few weeks will make or make things harder here

Leed Petroleum(LDP): 1.5%: -63% Will be putting more in here very soon to bring average down

Nostra Terra (NTOG): 6%: -6% Will be selling shortly after result in a week

Oxford Catalysts(OCG): 2.5%: -22% Will be putting more in here when it starts to heat up and bring average down

    Provexis(PXS): 5%: -13% Waiting on European commission's verdict

San Leon Energy(SLE): 1.5% : -13% will be putting more in here between now and start of December as D day is in Jan/FEB to bring average right down

    100% = 36k

    Expecting in 6 months.

    Asian citrus Holdings(ACHL): 100%+
    Faroe Petroleum(FPM): 120%+
    Gulf Keystone: 300%+
    NightHawk Energy: 100%+
    Vialogy(VIY): 100%+
    Leed Petroleum(LDP): 150%+
Nostra Terra (NTOG): probabaly loose money :)
    Oxford Catalysts(OCG): 50%+
    Provexis(PXS): 100%+
    San Leon Energy(SLE): 100%+

This is honestly how I hope they will perform and i have tried to be conservative but of course one or more will not but some no doubt will be involved in a T/O and earn far more. I'll report back in ;)
