Counsellor Needed

I can't find anything in the stickies, but can you help in giving some details regarding counsellors or a recommended counsellor in the midlands area please?

I have search online and the best place I found is http://www.ncii.ie/

I see that there are different types of topics each counsellor handles, but the type of counsellor needed would be mainly for:

    1. emotional expression
    2. religious discussion/views and their influence on ones life

How does this work? Do you contact the counsellor/institute and they figure out who best suits your needs? Do you have a ball-park figure in cost for maybe 6 sessions?

    Hi,

I've been volunteering and been a victim (and continue to be so...) in the mental health 'arena' for many years now. The best thing to do is to go to your GP first and then as for a referral. The GP should always be the first port of call.

I agree with kevster. While I imagine some counsellors will specialise in some topics, most will be generalists. Typical prices are in the €50-60/hour bracket, but if that is an issue, there are some organisations that provide counselling at a modest cost and some counsellors will give discounts to clients with limited means.

    But start with your GP.
