Black tie wedding?

Bit of a stupid question really ... I'm going to a black tie wedding next week and I was picking my tux up from the dry cleaners when it dawned on me ... I've been to loads of dress dances but never to a black tie wedding ... What is the 'done thing' regarding the day ...

The tux is an evening wear suit .. Do the lads wear it from the off I the church etc ? Also .. My tux is the standard with a plain white winged collar shirt and black bow ... I just don't know if it is suitable attire for the church !!!

What are the trends these days fashion wise for black tie weddings? Would my black silk scarf be over the top?

yes, wear the tux to the church. You might need to take an extra coat with you depending on if the heating is on.

As hunnymonster says, you wear it to the church as you would a suit etc. Defo take an overcoat etc allowing for the likely chance of it not being dry etc

We've a black tie wedding coming up and the thought of wearing a bow tie for most of the day isn't too appealing to me; I was in a suit hire shop over the weekend and the sales guy suggested wearing a skinny black tie instead. Do many guys wear skinny black ties instead of bow ties these days? I've never been to a black tie wedding so I've no idea what the norm is.
