Ok i was going to buy the red cliff on blu ray ive been dying to see it ever since i saw the trailer, but ive just found out there two versions the western version which is condensed into one file bout 3 hrs lng and the eastern version the real version in which its broken up into two films with about an extr two hours of footage. First of all is the western version a shambles? Nd does anyone know how to get there hands on the eastern version?

the western was shown in the cinema (unless i missed part2!) and it's visually amazing imo.

cant comment on it v the eastern tho as i havent seen the 2 part-er.

    really worth the watch

Thks for that yeh they condensed down to 1 even for the cinema version over here, but in the east they released two films part nd and 2.

But since you still seem to think its worth the watch ill check it out.

It's essentially Dynasty Warriors: The Movie. I like it, but that there seems to be no intention of releasing the full version on DVD is frustrating.

The reviews on Amazon aren't very favourable for the disc quality either.

Got it last night to rent

    Well worth getting.
Now I wouldn't say it was the best film I've seen in that genre, that'd be The Warlords

Red Cliff is stunning to look at and an excellent film

Until this thread I wasn't aware there was a longer version

There are two versions of both the DVD and Blu Ray avilable. The first is a 2 disc theatrical version while the 4 disc version is the 4 hour plus version. Picking up the Blu Ray of the full version asap.

Do you know which one it is?

Looking for this for a while now but not sure which one to order.

As far as i can see neither of them are the extended version if you look at the runtime for all them they say 143mins which is the condensed version think the best option is to go into hmv and ask see what they know at least thats what i plan on doing.

It's actually the middle two (2 and 3) on that listing.

One of the most visually stunning films I've seen in a long time - I loved the version I saw in the cinema, which is the shorter one, but I'm not sure if I'd have liked it as much had it been close to five hours long.

Love the bit with collecting the arrows using the boats.

I can confirm this as I ordered both last week and received part 1 on Friday which I subsequently watched. Great film, can't believe they chopped both films in to one because there is so much going on.
Since I ordered it last week both dvds have gone up from €16.99 to €18.99....hmmm
