Travelling europe by car

I went into the Hibernian office in Eyre square to ask about getting insurance to drive around Europe by car for the summer. The guy in the office told me they don’t do that cover. Where would you recommend for this insurance cover. I have a full licence and would be looking to put other full license holders on the insurance. What is the story with putting a provisional licence holder with a number of years experience on the insurance?

First of all your basic Irish insurance will cover you in EU countries plus one or two more such as Switzerland, Norway etc. It should clearly state this in your policy. If it doesn't then change your insurer.

Provisionals are only valid in the Republic of Ireland, certainly not on the continent, so if your buddy only has a prov. he can't drive abroad.
